Mirror mirror on the wall.... who makes the best chainsaw file of them all?

There's been a few threads on chainsaw files - which is the best which lasts longest etc so I'd like to do a blind chainsaw file test to see which one proves itself in the field.

It would work like this:

  • Got to Products for the category: Round files and buy a single file of a size that you use the most out of 5/32" (4mm), 3/16" (4.8mm) or 7/32" (5.5mm). Just a single file any brand.
  • On checkout put in 'freepost' as the voucher code.
  • Checkout and pay for this file.
  • You will then receive x4 files each colour coded blue, red, yellow and green. Each will have the brand removed
  • Vote in the poll I'll set up on another thread.

If you're interested reply to this thread and follow the above instructions.

It would be good if at least 20 people took part.

Great initiative!

A proper "double blind" scientific study!

Remember to let the users rate the files on multiple parameters, such as:

  1. Efficiency (i.e. how much is removed)
  2. Sharpness of chain (after sharpening)
  3. Longevity (how long does the file last)
  4. and… ?

Seems like a good deal to me, not often that you get something for nothing. I have been told Vallorbe files are Numero Uno and that thy make the Oregon ones - both have Swiss made on them! Perhaps different grade!

I have used both Stihl and Oregon, yet to use Vallorbe but do use a grinder for getting real blunt chains back in to true.

Will sign up for this - sounds like a good useful idea to benefit us all:thumbup:

You can do this as well morten - I'll send them out to you if you wish to take part.

But I was more thinking rated by:

1.Best

2.Pretty good

3.Not bad

4.Not as good as the others!

And then a few reasons as to why!
