I would have thought its for chain tensioners on drifferent brands of saws, so instead of it just for stihl or just husky they fit both with no oiler and tensioner issues? maybe just a guess

I think you are right. The slids at the blue arrows are for oil.

Two ways of telling for certain:

  1. Confirm if there is a way for oil to go from the holes at the red arrows and into the bar groove
  2. Mount the bar and have a look at which of the holes/slids match up with the oiler groove on the saw body

OK, then, not quite blue, but I couldn't spell "turquoise" at the time. But we could also just call it green, which I guess would be more accurate :blushing:

Guess I should make an appointment with my local optometrist :001_cool:

Where'd you get that bar from Peter?

The zebra bars are a budget option. They work fine but do not last as long as the Cannon/Oregon equivalent. It's a cheaper way to get into carving.

However the recent batch last sent from the factory was minus the oiler holes. Without the correct gear to drill the oiler holes the importer of these found it easier and more efficient to grind them.

So the green holes are oiler holes and the red holes are the universal holes for tensioning the bar (although on some saws one of these can also act as an oiler hole as well).
