stump rot?

Recommended Posts

I have an old cherry stump that a customer of mine wants removing its not very big maybe 15inches max diameter. But there is no access for even the smallest of stump grinders and digging it out or winching it out is not an option.

So i was just wandering is there a product that will make the stump degrade quicker? its already dead but the wood is still quite hard.

Why is digging and winching not an option? Pickaxe, fence spade, loppers/saw to cut roots. 15 inches diameter isn't big and the customer wants it removed then make a job of it. Anything you put on it to try and rot it will take ages and ages and ages.

Cover it over with plenty of soil and compost and it'll rot down within 18 months

Cheers for the advice guys!

I've heard potassium nitrate is also very good at helping the stump rot down but i don't know where to get it from? there must be a specific stump rot product you can buy though?
