Dear All Arbtalkers,

We are pleased to announce that applications are now open for riders wishing to take part in the 2012 Ride for Research.

There will be two rides (or legs):

■Reading City – September 2nd

■Birmingham City – Autumn date tbc

The rides are open to anyone working as a professional in forestry or arboriculture.

If you don’t want to ride yourself but would like to volunteer to support the 2012 Ride for Research, please let us know how you would like to help.

Fund 4 Trees is an organisation promoting sustainable treescapes by:

1.supporting tree research;

2.advancing environmental education.

Our main activity is running an annual cycling event, Ride for Research, that is completed by professionals working in arboriculture and forestry, and who are sponsored by friends, businesses and members of the public.

The riders complete a short tour and en route visit schools and communities to plant trees and to talk about the importance of trees. Funds raised are passed on to scientists working to secure a sustainable future for trees in our landscapes (treescapes).

The Ride for Research event is affliliated with a number of core supporters including the UK & Ireland Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture and the Arboricultural Association.

An application to become a registered charity is being put together during 2012.

Meanwhile the fundraising activities of Fund 4 Trees are being supported during 2012 by the Sylva Foundation. This support allows us to raise funds efficiently – please donate if you are able.

Please visit our website for more information - Fund 4 Trees | promoting sustainable treescapes

Thanks,

Ian
