Its bedding for stock I think, we gave him a few loads of G50 and some from our yard, but it was no good, not large enough chips as it broke down too easlily and turned to mush, there is a guy in scotland with a large laimet (I think) that will produce suitable chip, but I've never looked any further into it as yet.

Where abouts are you based?

Down in sunny Richmond, but by the end of the month ill be in OZ and then on to NZ for a good root around :001_cool: ,

My mate has a nursary nearby with a big waste woodchip boiler in and has a Bandit Beast to chip pallets ,he had some spare and sold some to James but now wishes he hadn't as he's running out fast,he also sold some to someone up your neck of the woods who makes wood fule pellets.

That'll be Ravensworth Nurseries I take it, we did a big job on the A66 taking out dangerous trees from Scotch Corner to the Cumbrian border.

They took all the timber.

This was great for us as we were working nightshift and just came and went as we pleased dropping timber by the big Bandit.

He told me the boiler and Bandit were going to save him a fortune in heating costs, the glasshouses apparently could get through £500's worth of heating oil per night,a nd that was around ttree or four years ago before the price of oil went through the roof.

Thats the one ,a bit of forward thinking by Jonnys dad .No grants just borrowed a shed load of money, built a shed got a chipper and a 6.5 million btu boiler ,he gets all the pallets given so never buys wood in.

Full belt on a frosty night he burns about 2 tonns of chip ,he used to spend £70k per year on heating oil ,so it has about paid for itself in 4 years. The chipper is like new he cranks it up once a week.

Not bad for a farm hand who started off selling plants on the roadside.

(sorry for off topic but thought people would be intrested).

Alexs site is spot on, i was holding off sticking my mog on his old site because it was never updated, but i will stick it on that for sure.

I bet you live to regret selling your mog.

Mine bleeds me dry on occasions, but on others it makes me a mint.

Overall they are a sound investment, IMO, so long as you make full us of them.

I am intrigued as how you came to a £50k price tag for your mog in the classifieds? Or how much do you value the TP chipper at? & the PTO winch at (and which type of F64.1 is it)?

I know the exchange rate is much less now than 9 months ago BUT Germany/EU is feeling the recession to so the € price of used mogs has dropped vs. 9 months ago because there are more on the market with fewer people chasing them out there.

mog 38k, 4k for the winch(it is remote controlled) and 8k for the chipper.

If i wanted to give it away i could, but i am not going to. The mog has a very high spec, and is minted. Chipper has done nothing for its age.

If you want something tarted up with hamerite for half the price, go and see mr atkinson. :001_smile:
