Assuming you wouldn't actually use that karabiner, it seems good.

I'm not in favour of base anchors while in work position. Once up at my TIP a groundie releases my base anchor.

Grizzly is sherrills name for it. Anchor bridge rope works has one, tree stuff has one, Treetools has one, beal, sterling, teufelberger etc..

That's the point Drew, it's rated as a splice. Can't see the problem with it.

If its possible it'll favor the guys who use the double fig8 or double bowline TIP cinch, the idea is that there is no carabiner contact with the tree so no cross loading and no cambium/bark damage since its 100% rope contact. The way i work at the moment is to shoot as high as i can with a throw line, isolate a limb and tie a double fig8 lock the rope in between the eyes with the biner and send her up. If i got my TIP first shot i work the tree as normal bottom to top of not i work my way to the TIP just like Ddrt unclip throw higher clip in work up etc. when ever i make it to the top is when i set the system up for retrieval. Which is pulling the tail of the rope up and attaching it to the bottom of the biner so it forms like a big endless loop (please keep in mind whilst this may not suit how you guys work this is how I work and if the stitching idea isn't of value to any one else i'll gladly pay to have my lines stitched) once on the ground i pull the other end of the line and the system comes down. The merits of getting your TIP first go is that you aren't dealing with your tail dangling around while you work your way up, but its not that bigger deal anyway. The rest of my idea is to use a chinese finger trap like snare on the bottom of the the biner to make the whole system streamlined and knot free

Mark, its basically the same as a Ddrt climber wanting an eye splice, just to eliminate knots it's hard to see what i'm trying to do if you dont use the double fig 8 cinch
