We have a license and for the small cost it gives you peace of mind if you need to carry say some thing like old fence panels or a bit of rubble from a job.

 

Also, I was told during a spot check that anything which is taken off a building/development site is waste, I am not saying that's fact but its what the guy said. I didn't bother to verify it because it doesn't affect us as we have a license.

The wording suggests you are exempt if YOU generated the waste.

 

So - if you chip a pile of brushwood for a customer (or another tree company) you would need a license. A good reason to decline the 'While you are here could you just put that randomly stacked pile of Sh!te through your machine?'
