Public liability insurance

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm starting some coppicing and general woodland thinning operations and want to sort out some Public liability insurance for the felling and general ground work.

I would be greatful for any advice or recommendation of companies to speak with.

Trust seem to be developing a reputation for poor claims handling recently. Heard of a number of thefts and trust not paying out...

When I had a claim off them they paid out within a week, the only reason I may move is if they can't match the quote I have had off arborisk.:)

I just finished analyzing income and expenses for the past winter. Although I did ok, I still wanted to explore how I could limit expenses. Among other things, I called my commercial insurance agent. In the process, I learned I could insure the one ton for only the months I use it to plow, if that's its only purpose. It could be reinsured the same day as I call them. general liability On the subject of General Liability insurance, I was seriously considering dropping this and limit plowing to driveways only as there is really little risk of being sued. ONE BIG PROBLEM - If the company holding the Commercial Vehicle insurance policy learns that I do not have GL insurance, they will cancel the CV policy as they would be exposed to more risk than they want. Since they're both with the same company, there's a pretty good chance it'd be discovered. Before we talked about that, though, she cautioned against it. If I cancel a GL policy, it is unlikely that the company would rewrite it at a later date in the case I changed my mind. Since there are not many companies left that write GL policies for snowplowing, this might be worth further consideration.
