white smoke

on start up or when ive been doing crane work or winching when i get on the road and give it some beans theres loads of white smoke for a couple of miles, which indicates unburnt fuel? which is most likely cause,bad injectors,faulty return,pump timing or something else?its on an 8.2 bedford engine. originally engine used lift pump but now runs on electric pump,would this make a difference cheers:thumbup1:
