Crazy Cutter

Just a few pics (now i've learn't the art) of green oak beams cut with the small log mill for clients house. 16' by 14 by 10 with 6 inch cut out to cover RSJ. The cuts outs took some work with the adze! Pictures don't do justice but look great in situ. Just heavy to get up there took five of us and a few bolts!

Cool - As you said a heavy beam to get up and into place  Looks good.

There are two different ones in the in situ photos, took us a day in the end to get them up and bolted! The first one came back down about five times! Not enough paint on the bolts to mark the holes!

Be quick with the end bracket please Rob had a large sleeper order come in today!

Looks nice. I spent some of the Thursday of Easter week doing something similar - 6"x9"x15' ridge beam in this case, going up on to the floor joists as it's easier before the first floor walls are built. It will be lifted to ridge height once there's a gable end wall to rest it on. Unfortunately I don't have the five people to help - just me. Pics below.
