Nope,look on your plate & it will tell you the train weight,axle weights,(front & back),GVW is the gross weight of vehicle & contents,excluding trailer.

Chris my D/C Tansit is 3500kg gross, with a max train weight of 5750kg, which basically means I can tow 2250kg (as long as I don't screw the axle loadings up (which from memory are about 1600kg front and 2450kg rear).

 

And no, this doesn't mean you can tow a Halfords trailer with one log in it and have the truck weighing 5.6t!

Canter should be 3.5 tonne GVW, 7 tonne gross train, so truck can be fully loaded and still tow a 3.5 tonne trailer.

Maximum permitted laden mass of the vehicle = 3500kg

Maximum permitted laden mass of the combination = 7000kg

Maximum permitted load mass for 1st axle = 1 - 1950kg

Maximum permitted load mass for 2nd axle = 2 - 2700kg

So if I take my canter to work with a tipping ifor williams trailer and take 2 cube of chip in my van and 5 cube in my trailer and tow the chipper with my hilux with saws in the back I should be legal........I think

BE is different to B+E. BE is a trailer under 750kg MAM. B+E is any trailer behind a vehicle upto 3500kg
