I see

If only driving LGVs privately then no dcpc required unless under age 21 and driving a LGV over 7.5 tonnes

Thanks Rog, much obliged.

I'll add that one to the list then.:thumbup1:

It's motorcycle test first though! I started it 10 years ago but got sidetracked by my then girlfiend. Now she's my wife and has finally relented and bought my my theory and CBT for valentines with the promise of DAS for my birthday!:biggrin:

I'm trying to work out whether I can use my trailer to move some very wide boards.

It's an 8'x4' plant trailer - standard type with a central low sided box and twin axles - wheels out to the sides under wheel arches.

The boards are wide enough to overhang the trailer, even over the wheel arches. I know the maximum allowable overhang at the sides is 305mm, but does anyone know whether that is measured from the box of the trailer, or from the maximum total width, i.e. over the wheel arches?

Thanks

Alec

A couple of things changed on 19/01/2013

For all B licence towing of a trailer over 750 kgs MAM the one simple extra rule is now just

Vehicle GVW added to trailer MAM must not total more than 3500 kgs

The kerb weight rules has been revoked

For those that pass both B and B+E after 19/01/2013 - they are restricted to trailers of no more than 3500 kgs MAM which will affect virtually nobody !

So, if someone with a b licence wants to tow a sub 750kgs trailer, they can no longer do so behind say a 3500kgs transit? Gonna mess up a lot of the transit crew!

Yeh that is pretty crap! A double cab tranny can only hold around 800kg legally, so if a 750kg chipper is behind it, then you can only carry 50kg of chip :laugh1:

(i think)
