Yeah I've been looking at rangers I know another company that uses them he swears by them!!!!!

Can you put a winch on the front?

Yes, got a winch on mine, you cut out part of the bumper and it bolt straight onto the chassis.

Thought about a Disco 2 Commercial...? You'd lose the open pick up bed but gain better security, useful loadspace, spacious crew quarters [could easily install the proper second row seats for full 5 seater capacity] good towing & off road ability and a lovely drive on the road...

2003 Land Rover Discovery TD5 Commercial | eBay

Or this one... ready to go!

I have a Mazda B2500, in other words a Ranger, and I have been happy with it. Just put a brand new alternator on it for £110 so parts seem to be reasonable. Mine is a 2000 model but has a 2003 engine so is LEZ compliant, something you need to consider if you plan to work in London at all. :001_smile:

I'm interested in this, have you had to have the truck emmisions checked paperwork changed regarding emmisions ? as surely the LEZ works by the emissions for your trucks year and not the engine year.

Depends if you tel vosa you have changed the engine on paperwork, if I change the series 2a petrol to diesel and tell them I will get charged, if I don't tell them I will get charged for the petrol not diesel even tho it is.

Don't tell them and get stopped and checked then fined, tell them and get charged?

It has to have the correct approved type Catalytic convertor also so emissions should be fine. I haven't pushed it yet as haven't registered the engine change yet with DVLA. :001_smile:

IMO go for an older ranger, they seem to last better than the new ones. Hilux is ok, but the 2.4 NA is gutless with a load on. The turbo is better.

Don't bother with the l200 they have Lexus engine in them and are more for show.

Iv'e an 04 L200 club cab and apart from a couple of heater plug sets, it's been perfect. It gets lots of off road work. spends all august on the moors, and I'd certainly buy another. Engine has been no problem and does not use any oil.
