another scam

If they do accept paypal in the end then there is some degree of protection, but the scam seems to go that once the listng ends they send an email requesting payment via bank transfer.... when that's made, your money is gone for good....

It won't work on all the people all the time but it doesn't need to, they only need to catch the odd person out every now and again for it to be massively profitable... not a huge investment afterall....

The seller of the chipper has gone a bit cold on me. I asked if I could pay by Western Union and he said he would prefer bank transfer. So I told him I would either prefer cash on collection or else PayPal, and that I would like to see a picture of him next to the chipper and a picture of his photocard driving licence or passport. Dunno why, but he hasn't replied yet :001_rolleyes:

I messaged him too, just out of interest...

Me:

Hi there

Can you confirm the delivery charge is correct in the listing please?

Wouldn't want to bid and find it's supposed to be £340, not £34!

Also, if I won it, would you be prepared to do a bank transfer rather than Paypal and maybe split the difference & knock half the fees off the final sale price?

Finally, is there VAT on / included in the sale price?

Thanks

So I'll see what reply comes back to this [although I notice it's been pulled now...]

Hi Nigel

Yes please, more photos would be great, including VIN plate as well if poss so I can check service history, also of blades, feed rollers etc. Could you also take a photo of the inside of the oil filler & radiator caps off the engine just so I can see the colour of oil & coolant?

What are the tyres like, not perished or damaged presumably?

How will it be delivered?

Thanks

hi all,

please be aware that you're not always protected with paypal either.

a mate of mine bought a gearbox for his lotus 7. paid via paypal,

no gearbox, no money.

after much wrangling with paypal their final answer was that the guy had closed the bank account connected to his paypal account and they had no way of getting the cash back.

BEWARE people
