What are everyones thoughts and opinions of current aerial work platforms in the industry? Could there be anything functionally better to improve the way you work whilst using a MEWP?

Also what machine do you prefer to work with if you have used an aerial work platform before?

Regards

Hello TAP, welcome to the forum.

Maybe worth a little background on who you are & what you do, that may get a little more interest going in your questions :001_smile:

I'm Alex by the way from Hi-Lift Access based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. We operate a fleet of tracked access platforms for nationwide hire, operated and non-operated. We also sell new and used platforms as a UK dealer for two manufacturers; Matilsa and Custers. Feel free to have a look on our website, the address is: http://www.hi-liftaccess.co.uk

Best Regards

Without doubt the most versatile MEWP has to be a tracked one, but the expenese is a problem as around here they are £700 a day for a 17m one, I am now looking into the use of one mounted on to a site dumper. IT could be handy to have one which could be controlled from the ground to lift timber safely.

Hi,

That seems expensive for a one-day hire of a 17m, is that a local company or do you have to draft one from a good journey away?

Your idea sounds good too, and very practical. Similar to the HIAB operation from the ground but for lifting timber.

Best Regards

ive alsways wondered if you could have a hiab with a mewp basket attachment, would make a very versatile machine then, and would be easy to do with modern technology of remote controlled hiabs ect. you could have a lorry that was a hiab, mewp ect all in one. am sure there's some health and saftey reason why you cant tho!

I requested a quote from Facelift Access down here in Sussex for Wumag with 30m and 15.8m outreach - thought it was pretty good value. Including operator, cost is £60/hour + 10% insurance + vat. Total for a day is charged as 10 hours (8 hours on site, 1 hour each way) and works out £850 all in. Sounds a lot, but if the operator is working all day and the bloke on the platform is going at it proper like, then it's no bad.

i used a 45 m one not long back and was about £900 a day with operator.

Fantastic machine, the out reach was unbeliveable! and 45 m doesnt sound to high untill u go all the way up and the 18ton lorry looks like a toy beneath u!

used a 16m truck mounted yesterday and that was not bad, got higher than the roof of a 4 story building. that was about £300 operate for the day, get them from panther platforms.
