Splicing Marlow Aeris

Not the easiest splice but so far no wrecked hands and no yanking or swearing, yet!!

 

scratch that, I'm having a nightmare burying the last bit of the core using a wire fid as i can't get enough taper to allow the bury, any tips before I go and buy a push fid to try?

You could try burying the taper in sections, a few inches at a time.

 

Have you also milked as much cover up towards the bury point (D) so that it's as loose as possible over the area?

 

Remember - you can leave it and come back tomorrow.

Is there anything about Aeris that would make it an obvious choice over other ropes?

Drew - tha kafir the step by step, I like the idea of taping the core strands when you divide them in half as I struggled with only 10 fingers to not get them all tangled!!

 

I hadn't tried burying the core a few strands at a time, might try that but yes I have milked plenty of cover and it'd super baggy.

 

I chose aeris as I wanted to really streamline my lanyard and this was light thin rope which had a good review (an a darn sight cheaper than some others!)

 

Oh and Drew, do you get all the core strands to where you want them before snugging it all up to give the finished eye??

i line all the marks up and then individually pull each strand to make sure they are all sat nice n snug. The tape makes doing the bury way easier for me otherwise they all get tangled up.

Cool, well I've started the bury again with a longer taper and got about an inch into the jacket and it's jammed again but I think with some bending and twisting and gentle massage it might go
