For the 51.8% who are'nt convinced, wpold'nt you find these tempting? Took the clinometer for a walk this afternoon, several silver firs around the 55M mark and one douglass at 60M!!! I measured it three times. I know its bad but I'm not sure how much longer I can resist.

You'd have to climb a rope to access the crown, assuming no damage to the tree. Not into that myself. Give me a broadleaf any day. Good view at 60m I would think.

where are they tom? there is a big wellentonia in Lael forest park. i've often thought about doing some of the douglas firs in the hermitage at dunkeld.

 

there is a jumbo spruce at plodda falls (around the end of glen affric)

Careful you don't dip the end of your rope in the icy Braan, below the big Dougie just down from Ossian's Hall.

 

Been there a couple of times in the afternoons following Hogmonay.

climbed a beautiful 120ft poplar a few mths ago wit my brother and scott forest (uk champ) next to a public footpath next to my place.no complaints.if you think its safe and are compitent then climb away i say.

 

 

for sure you should be allowed to. but WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU!!

 

climbing trees all week at work..you think i do it as a hobbie too! No chance
