Decerning thieves

Hello y'all

 

Just been down to my yard to find that some luverly person has helped themselves to a load of Ash cord wood.........left the conifer and shite wood......... very decerning indeed.

Bit wound up and have a feeling may be the start of a regular occurance.

My yard is a little bit in the sticks but obviously some one knows it excists!!! Have you good people got any tips on security for a rural yard, no electrics, no tools stored, just chips and wood/logs. Would a gate with a padlock really work?? I'm thinking along the lines of cemtex under the cordwood stacks and logs. I know it's no like getting a chipper nicked, but it's still annoying and hard not to take personal. Rant over!!!!!

i know how u feel mate, i hauled a good couple of lorry loads of timber to the edge of the wood, left it for a week over christmas last year to find it had all been nicked. no saw dust which meant they took whole lengths also no tyre marks so im guessing they hiabed over the fence. still spitting feathers over it now as it was gonna be this winters firewood supply

Always good for giving a fright! but i wouldnt have thought that would deter people if they realise that houses are far enough away to give them time to load up and dissappear before you arrive.

Exactly, I always try to put the ash etc one side for personal use. Have you had problems since???

A friend had a load of ash stolen about an hour after I delivered it. The next day we left another bulk bag full and hid a paintball grenade in it.

 

The thief was a chap in his 60’s from down the road and had the audacity to complain.

 

Plod though the whole thing hilarious and accepted our explanation that we had “mislaid” the grenade.

Have you used one of these??? Are they as good as they look??

 

If you are going to use an alarm mine you would need to drip wax on the end of the cartridge to seal it against moisture.

 

Cartridges, even if kept dry, in an outside eniroment will take in air moisture and after a while will go "Puff" not "Bang!"

 

Plus don't be tempted to modify it to fire something as I did, because you will forget about it and end up shooting yourself, "as I did"

stick an old caravan on the site and make it look occupied with 12v lights on timer
