The Giant Hand of Vyrnwy

Recommended Posts

Went to see this the other day only an hours drive from me, amazing work!

This and the other monster trees they have around Lake Vyrnwy are definitely worth a visit if you're in Wales.

There are a few massive Douglas firs surrounding it so was hard to tell which the next tallest is, but all seemed close to 200ft!

Got disco leg just thinking about being at the top on spikes!

I took the kids to see this in summer. We got a bit lost, but the locals knew exactly where to direct me when I asked about the 'giant hand'.

Needless to say, we were really impressed when we got there.

It was chucking it down when we did finally find it, but this just added to the atmosphere of the piece.

The setting and context is just superb, and it gave me a really good intro to talk about trees and environment with my kids.

Personally, I think this is one of the best sculptures I have seen for a long time.
