A few questions regarding nptc cs units

to cut a long story short, ive stopped doing sectional dismantling at my work, ive asked many times for the correct nptc ticket and been told no.

 

so, what do i legally need to do my work??

 

i have cs30, 31, 38 and 39.

 

im expected to do all aspects of tree work

 

i regularly get sent to dismantles, crown shaping and reduction, felling large trees, working from mewps, using a chipper ( tracked, tow along and tractor mounted ) tractor mounted winch, using pole saws, spraying pesticides and alot more, but that gives an idea of what im expected to do, without the qualifications to do it.

 

so, am i being an arse?? or do i have a point to say no, if i dont have the ticket??

 

i wil also add that ive been employed with the company i work for since feb 2008, so all this has been since then.

pay for them your sen , like most folk do :biggrin:

 

 

ive also tried that, with the sectional, stump grinder and chipper courses, again, told no

 

they have put some guys through lowering, sectional, mewp and stump grinder, all paid for by the company, so i shouldnt need to pay.

the bigger question is that as an employee how does your employer show competency

 

 

My question doesn't directly relate to the OPs question but, what if the employer took a vid of an employee performing a section fell(all above board and the employee knew about it etc) and kept it on file. Would that not be proof enough that they are competent rather than say removing a few branches on an NPTC assessment?

 

Surely it would prove competency if that's all the HSE are worried about etc.

 

I know I would prefer to see someone actually do the job in hand than rely on a ticket.

 

Just something I've thought about since many people seem to now want the tickets when in the 'old' days no one could be bothered going on the course and just wanted to get on with the job.:001_tongue:

that would be good if it could be done that way,

 

ive been told that i have to pay for damages if i break something, fair enough, but im not gona pay for something ive broke, doing a job i dont have the ticket for.

 

its all about blame these days, hence everyone wanting proof of tickets.

That would be enough for me to not work there.

 

I dont break stuff but hate that attitude that some bosses have.:thumbdown:
