I like the slopey up bit at the back, must keep the back end down at speed like a spoiler

 

I'm going to have to sort mine out, it's starting to look a bit "pikey" as Ed pointed out when he came to the house.

Hmm "at speed" and "transit" in the same sentence... Our old quick chip has a higher spout then the TW so needed the exta height to get it full without chip going everywhere. Our first truck had it on a hinge so you could flip it back when loading with the tractor.

 

I guess you could use a tarp top but then you couldn't stand the ladders up on the roof to reach the top of really big hedges:blushing:.

Caution on Nissan Terranos or Ford Mavericks

 

Especially the older ones

 

The oldman had a Ford Maverick and was a nice vehicle to drive and ride in but then he had a problem with the power steering, He was quoted £375 for a power steering pump and was told that if the pump has failed it was likely to bugger up the rest of the system!! He sold it .

 

Now is running a Mitsubishi!

 

I think if you want a happy medium between work horse and a nice drive a disco would be fine, i have owned 2 discos a 200TDi and a 300 TDI I found the 200 slightly better on fuel but less power and noisyer and the 300 more power but about 5-10 MPG less on fuel.

 

I am currently running a Shogun, 2.8 Auto diesel

about 15-20 mpg but much more comfy than a disco and Quicker much quicker.

May be not the music & dance variety! But Land Rover models are Rot boxes! I'd avoid 200 &300 TDI and look at latest seriesII possible and invest in gallons of waxoil.

Was thinking maybe ford ranger but not sure what mpg is,?

 

We get an average of low 30's with a mix of towing and empty. Put your foot down and 20's. Has to be new ranger tho with TDCI engine. The old ones made BP most of their profit!!!

exception that proves the rule? Sills inner wings, B posts seat belt anchor points are all prone to rotting out hence the large amount of cheap vehicles about for donor engines.

Just buy a new one and change it every 3 years, let others worry about rust and MOT's!!

just get yourself a fourtrak boys,26mpg,20mpg towing a small continent at 60mph all day long,MT tyres to go anywhere,odd oil change and happy days,my 94 tdx even has air-con!! seriously good work truck,good late models going cheap,bit small in the back probably only down point

The Disco treewizard has is clean as a whistle might be due to the carefull caring last owner of 6 years!!!!
