Newish boots falling apart

Hi. Has enyone used Stein Explorer boots?

I have had mine about 4 months and the sole has started splitting in the arch and is now letting water in.

The stitching around the toe is starting to fail and the areas on the top of the boot is now letting water in.

I sent them back when the sole started to crack but the suppliers sent them to the manufacturer who have said there is no problem.

I have had to stuff the cracks with superglue now, I guess invalidating any gurantee but desperate measures and all that.

Just wondering if others had problems or is it just one bad example.

Really hoping this does not get moderated as I would appreciate any feedback.

Though we wouldnt wish to be knocking a certain product or brand, there are legitimate times that issues need to be addressed. You have taken the right approach, sent them back to the suppliers who have then sent them on to the manufacturer. This hasnt satisfied your complaint, negative feedback about a product can be seen in different ways. It can be used by the manufacturer to improve his product, or he can ignore it and carry on regardless.

Do you clean and dub your boots? Do you dry them properly? A lot of footwear issues arise from poor after care. Leather will crack if it is dried too fast, or if it isnt dubbed regularly. Dirt in the stitching will lead to it failing.

I'm not sure whether they are... Isn't Stein a Fletcher Stewart brand just made to 'sound' American? Or is it a joint effort..? May be wrong on both counts there!

I thought I read somewhere that they were made in Portugal?

The name just sounds German

Mind you plenty of boots are made in Croatia etc. for the big brands
