Sc252 stopped running and poored smoke.

Stripped it down at home because the yard is still with out electric:thumbdown:which was a pain as all my tools are in the lockup but hay ho.

Magnets on the flywheel seem to have indulged in an orgy and the staytor caught light with excitement.

Thought id stick a new exhaust on and deal with the broken stud while I was at it.

Just put my 200T back together after a wee service.

Can't wait to try it out on a couple of conies tomorrow.

Cutting rabbits up with it ?

 

How did that stator pick up a rock that size, has someone been running without covers fitted ?

Sounds like it could be a crank leak, or possibly still carb/fuel problems

Seals now replaced, idle perfect in every orientation, shake it, swing it, still same idle.

 

Now very pleased with saw £155 for a 180 psi 200t, must be a good buy.

 

Crankcase seals are in my opinion a service item.

If i added crank seals to a service i would get no service work at all as it would put at least £40 on the bill.

 

So if you said to the owner, this will stop your saw from stalling when you invert it, and sort the uneven running issues, make it start more easily.

 

I would say £40 well spent, better still tune it in and charge £50.

But if I said to a customer " your seals did not need changing, but I did it anyway for an extra £40" I would soon lose customers.

 

Crank seals very rarely cause problems.

On Stihl MS200t, I believe the single large lip genuine seals are a little under designed.

 

Simple fix £7 parts, 15 minutes to change if the saw is stripped for a deep clean.

 

You would spend that time trying to adjust the carb, upping the L screw trying to compensate for a small crankcase leak.
