What's on your bench today?

I have a little husqvarna 41in bits on my bench today piston and cylinder are scored so I have ordered new ones. I am not sure why they're scored I just picked up the saw at a boot sale so no idea how it stopped. Hopefully some one ran it on neat petrol but the tank was empty and dry so no clue there. What else it there to look out for? Cheers

Air getting in somewhere or someone has tried running it weak on the H screw to get more revs out of it.

357xp.

 

Just stripping down a 357xp with a Zama carb.

 

I know the early ones had Walbro carbs, and the later (like this) had Zama.

 

Either I'm being thick (probably) or there's something weird with the filter holder/gasket. There's an intake from the filter holder that has a corresponding hole in the gasket, but there's nothing on the carb to receive the intake.

 

What am I missing here? Or is there a part wrong?

The early Walbro carb had a compensator, so the tube in the inlet and the gasket were only valid for that carb, the Zama carb does not have a compensator so the tube and gasket are now obsolete, the tooling was never changed so its not unusual to see the gasket and tune in the inlet.

It now runs fine half choke but dies with any throttle..,??

 

Sounds like lack of fuel, hole in fuel line, take the h screw out and get some carb cleaner down it and pull the gauze filter out of the carb and make sure it isn't blocked, not always obvious so look at it with a magnifying glass!
