30 year old Kawasaki strimmer, pissin out fuel everywhere and not firing, first idea was needle valve in the carb.

Pullt he carb off, plonk a bit of tube on the fuel connector, blow down the tube, bingo - it leaks.

Strip out the diaphragam and tap it to open it and it seals fine, strip it down, good clean and then re-assemble. Fires up OK, adjust idle and mix, all good.

Should keep the old thing going for a few more years.

Oh, the recoil fell apart during this so had to improvise a new spring:001_rolleyes:

Husky 250rx strimmer which played up last time it was used so changed plug and it was allright, got it out to check it for tomorrow and it played up again ran for a short time flat out then just stop. Took carb off cleaned out, HT lead, Stop lever, no still the same result. Then changed plug and away we went.

Whats the best substance for cleaning chainsaw plastics?

I soak them in gunk degreaser in the parts washer then put them through the dishwasher and then polish to get a shine with WD40. One of the best thing i ever bought is a VAX hand held steam cleaner, its brilliant for removing stubborn dirt in hard to get places and works brilliantly for removing dirt that has ingressed into the scuffs and scratched on the plastics.

Zetor tractor, dropped number 1 cylinder on inspection found both pushrods bent! No valve to piston contact but lots of carbon build up on piston/head/valves and valve stem. S o what has caused both pushrods to bend? Took all the cylinder heads off and they had been running spot on just number has the problem, so a lot of carbon build up before the pushrod problem, valves on number 1 weren't seating very well and the previous owner used to leave it ticking over for long periods. I,ve cleaned all the carbon and lapped in all the valves, getting new pushrods/injector and a headset tomorrow, so hopefully it should running tomorrow.

Zetor bit,s arrived today, so it,s back together and running only took 2 hours! they are a simple engine and having separate heads makes it even easier. It,s running much smoother. Going give it some work to do in my own woods tomorrow to make sure everything is ok.
