Homeowners advice forum guidelines - Please read

Question

The Arbtalk homeowners advice forum has been included in the Arbtalk forums to help you gain free advice for some of the common problems you may face with your trees. Please note that all advice presented here is limited by the nature of the internet and is no substitute for a physical assessment by an Arborist. Subsequently, we advise that site specific consultation should always be sought after before instructing any works.

To assist you in using the advice forum we ask that all users please adhere to the following guidelines.

  • The forum is for homeowners/non tree specialists seeking advice for possible tree works. Please be advised you will likely receive conflicting opinions and that the information offered to you should be considered as part of wider research rather than a one stop shop. Arbtalk does not (and cannot) independantly validate the professional opinions of its members.
  • Please do not ask for advice on how to carry out the management of your trees yourself. Tree work is hazardous and as a result we recommend that it must be carried out by a professional arborist only. In any case, such requests are likely to provoke an unwanted and unsympathetic response from the members here.
  • Please post your request with as much detail as possible in the first instance, including multiple photos from various distances and angles, and any relevant history. This will assist you getting the best advice possible at an early stage.
  • In most cases a professional on site evaluation will be recommended. In this case, please view our Arborist Directory to find a tree contractor in your area.
  • Please do not use this forum to post images of work you have had carried out (or seen) with the intention of discrediting the contractor in question. This is against forum rules and will result in action by the moderators.
  • Finally, you are a guest at Arbtalk. Please read the forum rules and guidelines and adhere to these at all times.
