Hmmm. Not had one that wouldn't go to run but did have one that wouldn't go to full choke and stay there. It would move back on its own.

The switch operates with the flat metal spring, but this spring is more for the short circuit in turning the saw off. The switch runs a bar through the handle part and out the other side. This then works the choke built into the filter.

I would check this part is working ok. You can seperate the air filter and bolt the front half back on with the choke fitting in it. Then operate the choke lever to ensure its working ok.

The switch could be worn and not holding the run position. Check the notches in the switch mechanism are all ok and not worn out. This wold cause it to skip past run and onto off.

I also have my 026 sat in bits again tonight (doing the fuel and impulse lines). I wonder if you have a problem with the parts inside the back handle? The back part of this clips in to the base and looks the kind of thing that can become worn where it pivots, causing it to ride over the clips. To access this, there's a single screw from underneath at the very back end of the handle, which releases the black top half of the handle (thanks Rich!) - watch out for the springy bit though - just take the black top half of the back handle off gently.
