I found having one decent tractor I needed it in 3 different places with 3 different attachments. I now tend to buy junk for £1500 and leave the processor on it all the time. More junk with loader or grab for loading the log deck.

Same here, luckly our junk turned out to be reliable:thumbup:

I think often the junk is more reliable and easier to fix due to the lack of electronics

leyland 272 here

 

runs the cone splitter, and forks and bucket for the front.

 

it also works on site when needed, winching trees out/over, loading larger trailers with cord etc.

Leyland tractors are better than leyland cars! but they do have a morris 1000 steering wheel!

i personally think u get way more for your money with a dedicated machine

cheap loader tractors are wanted for horse yards which seems to make them poor value for money

i would say u would deffinately prefer a 4x4 tractor as they can just go that bit further wihch is always helpfull

telehandlers are good as there outreach is increadbly usefull

also the ag machines have a third service to opperate an attachment and set of forks with a beak is deffinately useful as theres no changing of implements

older loader tracotrs may not have this which makes handling timber harder

4x4 tractor is a nice luxury 5500 pounds and upwards, 2wd tractors 1750 pounds and upwards some with front loaders, the leyland in the photo was 1800 pounds with high lift loader gripe and bale spike and yes i,d swop it for a 4x4 tractor, only costs incured with the leyland for 12 months use has been an oil change!
