Here is my first piece in two years.

I kept it very simple in form as i was having loads of problems with the chisel cutting into the wood as it was spinning, My technique needs alot of practice again to be able to do more complicated shapes again.

Its a piece of Masur Birch donated by a local chap who was getting rid of loads of old wood bits to make room for a new chicken pen.

Why the long absence from working with wood?

Hi Janey.

I fell ill after spliting with my wife two years ago and lost as well as my home but the use of my workshop too.

Ive now rented a place privately in the village were i was and i built a small workshop in my garden so i can turn again, I may only get another 4 months use unless i am able to get my tennancy extended so things are not on a permenant footing just yet.

Im just glad to be turning again if just for a short time.

Hi Janey...

That's rough . Sorry, I wasn't prying, honestly. Not this time anyway :sneaky2:

I was curious as to why someone with your obvious skill and enjoyment for what you do hadn't been able to express their talents for so long.

Glad you seem to be back to a much healthier position in your life :thumbup1:

(Nice '650 btw)
