How very kind of it! That bit of deadwood on the floor might actually be great, as it opens up the area to an entirely different type of deadwood habitat. Hopefully it's being left in situ? I note the wildflowers about in the earlier shots - great nectar sources for any beetles that may inhabit that wood.

Policy is to leave as much of the wood on site as long as it's not prejudicial to public access or other habitats.

One of three Horse chestnuts subject to soil erosion that also has Rigidoporus ulmarius colonising the base of the tree.

 

The trees back on to an adjacent private garden but I felt confident that when/if the tree fell it would stay on our side.

 

First noted the Rigidoporus about 10 years ago but noticed the tree starting to lean (via the canopy gap) more than normal last autumn.

 

We could have 'possibly' arrested the fall (for a bit more time) via reduction, but to be honest we have bigger priorities.
