midline knot for cross-rope for tying off speedline (rarely), as rigging attachment on big-girth trees or type c aerial rescue using end of climbers rope (but only if its long enough), for pulling with tow-hitch or as a winch attachment (with a piece of wood through the knot so it doesn't over tighten). The only problem I have with it is if I haven't used it for a few months I have a brain fart and forget how to tie it!

the only knot that can be tied mid line for pulling tight both ways and allow an offset pull

If heavily loaded can be awkward to undo

relatively easy to check tied correctly

very useful knot

probably mainly used in tree surgery when applying mechanical advantages or offsets

Tied mid line
