But how big is the UK firewood market?

Recommended Posts

and the moral of the story is.......................

stockpile your logs, don't sell em of cheap coz old Ted ( i hate old Ted ) is selling them for a fiver a dumpy bag.

they can only get better over time, and more valuable

Someone who I work with does a full ranger bed load for 35 quid..

With there being more and more houses being built and a larger population the firewood industry should grow almost by default but that only depends on houses being built with a fireplace, which id say only more up market houses are having them built in, as for supply I cant see how we will need to start relying on imported timberdue to lack of british supply, its just the high price thats spoiling it, which I dont understand

The market has shrunk in my mainly rural area alot with the cheap price of oil. Customers burn what ever is cheapest and at the moment its oil. It's also been very warm and sales are down around 50% on last year at a guess.

Now selling a mere 5% of what we used to...

For us we are selling more than last year although it dosnt feel as busy, but thats due to evolving and becoming more organised and as for the sales becoming more and more popular, but im suprised that u guys are seeing a 50per cent drop, then again they said it was meant to be the coldest winter in years, about time that comes to fruition dont you think!
