Trouble with fire wood nowadays is the same problem as with everything else, joe public be he/she toff or not buys on price not quality, customer loyalty through quality of service and product seems to be a rapidly declining thing :001_cool:

I think Firewood is just same as most businesses, provide a reliable service and deliver what you advertise and the business will look after itself. I'm making money in firewood, not a lot but it provicdes a wage for me and my bro in the winter, I wouldn't do it otherwise ;)

Its the fly by night firewood boys that are mugging themselves off, thinking they are making money but when they take into account everything that goes in to producing a load their probably loosing money.

Just to clarify it's £55 for 1.2 of hardwood.......i did buy a bulk purchase of softwood in also a while back. I've sold some of this but i'm mostly using it for the wood burners in my showroom and my house.

Looks like i've got a good deal then. Hence why i'm not bothering to process myself. I may be able to get it cheaper once i can prove i'll be shifting large volumes.

I would imagine he's VAT registered, so it makes no difference.

It would be crazy to not be VAT reg if your buying wood in for doing fire wood.

If anyone knows of a deal in the south I would love to know. I can only assume wood is a bit cheaper up norf.

What species of hardwood is that?

I was going to make a joke about poplar but I have had lots to drink and thought it may be taken the wrong way so Im not going to. Everyone producing logs is in the same boat. How to get the best product to the customer while buying shiney toys to save your back but still show a profit. Its only wood :thumbup1:
