Alright peeps

Been asked to carry out a tree survey, done them before for friends and small gardens etc but this is for a developer-many trees!!!. Can any one give me any pointers inc. how you cost a survey?? price per tree? price for whole survey? basic charge for survey? What's the best approach to take?? I'm pretty sure I know what needs to be included in the survey, but suggestions welcome.

Thanks everyone.

Do you have proffesional indemnity insurance? I think your developer client is expecting a pre-development report

I do have P.L. insurance. How much does P.I. cost approx???Does the report have to be done by a qualified consultant... degree level I'm guessing or can someone like me, craftsman level do the report???

Tree surveys do interest me but am I entering a somewhat dodgy world of insurers and insurance. Is ist best left to the consultants???

Cheers

P.I will cost more than the report most prob, before you undertake a pre-development report of your own you'd be advised to work under or with a consultant, who is experienced in this feild.

What I would do if in your shoes is bring in a consultant and give him the job , but explain you want to learn, you will get valuable training , the consultant will get work, you could no doubt be mutualy benefitual to one another, in other words he might pass on tree work to you...

I've got a couple of consultants in in the past to do reports and they have been pants!

If your going to get some one, get someone who knows what they are doing as anyone can claim to be a "consultant" just like anyone can claim to be a tree surgeon.

I think we pay about £500 a year for PI insurance.
