Weird saw hook and forearms?

Skip to 20 secs on this vid,

 

do a lot of tree surgeons have hooks on their harnesses for their saws like that? i've never seen it before, is it a new thing? is it a good idea? And what are those things on his forearms?

 

hang on till 40 secs for some of the worst singing ever.

exceptional cameraman

 

its a very well made tree surgery video, normally they're very poor. dont know why they are making notches for lifting vertical pieces, did you notice the last cut comes in below the notch and the guy making it had the saw juddering like hell in the cut. Dont like the idea of using chains for that kind of work.

 

They got the job done ok and everyone looked happy
