An Alternative Way

Here stands halve of what was a a twin stemmed Oak, that had split out.

It's in an urban woodland environment.

Decided to retain it.

It's got a little bit of everything to rile those of you who wouldn't subscribe to such madness.

Coros, fractures, a good topping and retention of a tree with an known fault.

Knock yourself out guys and gals :ciao:

Some pre work shots

( and look Huck, shock horror not a mewp in sight :scared: ) :001_tongue:

Poor bugger!

Do you not think the weak stem had gone and the remaining stem looked OK to me.

Could you not have just monitored it for decay?

Is leaning toward a well used desire path target.

If it wasn't, I would have let be.

It was a little bit about practicing the techniques, in picture six

I see.

I'm all for standing dead wood and coronets ect's,

but I don't like that one bit, if I was out for a walk and saw that one it would spoil my day

It may spoil the day of a conisieur, but give the tree a lamas, and I guarantee you, Mr & Mrs Hampstead would be none the wiser, and would continue their pleasant afternoon stroll enjoying the continous canopy cover overhead.

Wouldn't spoil my day at all. I think in that environment it looks pretty cool.

Most would just have felled it.

This will throw a spanner in the works:scared1:

I'm just thinking out loud on my computer hear David.

Would it not be possible to ringbark some branches.

It could add to the overall effect of that type of work. And you would see the coronets.
