Screw Gate Karabiners

Now then I am probably opening a tin of worms hear but hear goes, on site today and was informed by somebody that you can not have screw gate karabiners in any part of your climbing system and in best practice should not be used at all on site.

 

I was under the impression that it was not best practice to use them on yuor life line or strop, but was still the climbers decision:confused1:

Why would any one want to use screwgates these days ?

 

 

I used to think they were great, easy to use especially when holding on with one hand :thumbup: and I never found them to come undone when tightened properly.

 

Bettter than the ones we have to use now imo.

i dont see the need for screw gates now days, 3 ways are much easier, safer and quicker...

Used to use them when I first started climbing, but I also used a Husky 266 and a three strand rope that was so stiff you could hold three foot of it straight out in front of you :thumbdown:...............I am glad to say things have moved on and ,IMO, mostly for the better:001_cool:
