In all fairness the car parking charge also covered the bus travel to and from the site so I did not think it excessive - what was barefaced robbery was the catering - £4 for a burger certainly blunts the appetite somewhat

cheers

mac

It's not the fact it was £10 that I was getting at, more why they couldn't just put it on the website - I'd have been quite P'd off if I'd been in a car on my own and had £10 to pay to park and get the bus when a car with 5 people in would have had to pay the same between them. Even if it was just a case of paying a fiver each to get in sounds an awful lot better than getting £10 a car sprung on you.

I'm pretty sure there were plenty of people who were finding alternative places to park too, so gettign free bus rides :sneaky2:

Those burgers didn't look too clever either

We timed it right on the JD stand, they brought round cakes :thumbup1:

However, the fact that it was a forestry show in the North is always a bonus!

Just reckon that there's potential to include a few more stands maybe for the next one as I would guess a large percentage of the visitors there weren't ever really going to be in a positon to be buying a brand new forwarder or harvester.

i did not feel a tenner was too much to park (the bus has to be paid) and burgers are £4 at most shows so i dont see why anyone would be surprised at the price. me and my kids got to see some cool machinery cutting trees so it was a cheap price for me.

i also wanted to support the show for yvonne and clarks as they have went out there way on a couple of occasions when i have purchased items off them.

hope the show was a success yvonne.

Being on our doorstep so to speak, we could hardly miss this one!

It was an excellent show, feedback we had on our stand was very good, shame more people didn't fill in the feedback form (yellow one you got on the bus).

We gained a whole load of new subscribers so no complaints here...looking forward to the next one.

There will of course be a full write up in the next issue of Forestry Journal, along with piccies.

I'm delighted to report that the first ever Forestry Demo has been an enormous success!!

We were overwhelmed with the support from the industry and although official attendance figures are still being collated, we are certain that more than 1500 visitors came to Ae Forest over the two days. The weather on Friday helped a lot...must have been the hottest day of the year! The feedback from industry professionals has been very positive. This was such a unique event...nowhere else in the world is it possible for visitors to see five and half thousand tonnes of timber being harvested over two days, by the world's leading forestry equipment manufacturers.

I am sorry to read about the disappointments felt regarding the car parking charges. The 5 exhibitors felt that £10 per car was not an unreasonable amount to charge. Entry to the event itself was free of charge, with a shuttle bus from the car park to the demo site. With say, 4 people in a vehicle, £2.50 per person was a very cheap day out at a unique industry event. There was mention on the website about the parking charge, but point taken, a price should have been mentioned also.

The food prices were set by the catering company and were, I feel, in line with normal event pricing. The burgers were delicious :)

So, once the dust has settled, the five companies will have a review meeting to evaluate the event, discuss how it can be improved upon and what will be the future shape of the event. We appreciate everyone's comments and all will be taken on board.

photos to follow shortly Les...just catching our tails at the mo!!

You did miss a great event Stevie! There were over 2000 visitors and over 5000 tonnes of timber were harvested over the two days

(You are correct that the poles were cut with a harvester and after the banners were up too!).
