Need to start running again because my cardio fitness is awful and I have literally developed a spare tyre round my midriff in the last few months.

 

I have invested in some decent trail trainers after having 'gait analysis', as I prefer to run off road when possible.

 

The thing is, I don't want to turn into a 'racing snake' and lose the upper body mass I have worked hard to build.

 

Any tips or general chat welcome.

I use to run for kent in the days before fags booze and women were discoverd I havent ran anywhere in about 3 years.

 

I think running shorter harder runs will keep the upper body strength there if possible trying to do sprints in a field maybe where you sprint 50 m -walk 25- sprint 50m etc.

 

Good luck and have fun before I die I inted to run a marathon

Have been training hard for the Marines for a long time, running about 25 miles a week, most weeks for ages.. I have not lost any muscle mass ever, i have only continued to grow because i still go gym and contunue with my 'bodybuilding' routines ive been into for years, and have kept the diet right, mostly...Have looked a bit minging when bodyfat gets a bit too low and get pumped up, vein city!

 

Eat right, continue to use your muscles you have built up as usual, and you will be fine.:thumbup1:
