If its only happened in the last few days could be the cold weather you can get different grades of oil. Last year one of our tippers would occasionally get stuck up completely. I found the oil was milky and as it rushed through the brass valve the frost would freeze the water in it. Changed the oil sorted. Your problem is more likely dirt in the valve

Problem is new vehicles more often than not dont come with an ash tray now:confused1:

My tipper slows down in the cold, more so on the return so I wondered if the cold increases the oil viscocity that much? Often get in the thing to help it back down! BOL.

hyd oil comes in several grades I have 32 and 47 32 is thinner and gets used when we have no leaks and the 47 goes in most of our kit

I've just replaced the tipper mech on my truck and it goes up fine but goes down dangerously fast especially when loaded, it always did it before I replaced the motor etc, is it missing a valve or something?

High Scale, when you say 'tipper mech', do you mean ya fitted a new type of hydraulic ram and the mechanical bits too?

I fitted a new drive motor and hydraulic tank, the ram is the original one.
