Douglas Fir??

Hi Lads

 

Dont know where to put this so general chat it is:001_smile: Doing a bit of a re-roofing job on me house at the minute well my roofer is:001_smile: Ive found some Douglas Fir (6x1) thats has been planked for about 6 months, its not Kiln dried do you reckon it would be OK for facia boards?

 

Any help on this would great

If it has been correctly dried (as in stickered and stacked with reasonable airflow) it should be fine. Easiest way to tell is get yourself a cheapo moisture meter and check - 15 to 19% moisture content is what you are aiming for (according to my architect wife).

Yes- perfect. It wont rot, itll look gorgeous, and as it is being used outside, and has had some drying (6 months is enough to air dry a 1" softwood board) it wont move to much, if at all.

Brilliant thats just what i wanted to hear 40cents a foot i dont think i can go too wrong :001_smile: cheers lads
