Sooty Bark Disease

Got the team to dismantle and Monolith a dead Sycamore which has become infected with Cryptostroma corticale.

When the climber came down, he looked like some kind of Dickrensian Chimney Sweep.

His rope, clothes and face were covered in brown "soot" which I summise are the fungal spores which have engulfed the trunk underneath the bark.

I've suffered the same fate in the past, which I no doubt quess a lot of you have.

Due to not perceiving any side effcts, I've never followed it up.

The recent threads on the death of the guy with Aspergillus and the one on Do you Sterilise: your tools? have got me to thinking.

The question is: Are there any known health risks associated with the above.

Would welcome your thoughts and experiences.

Cheers

David

Im not sure but maybe pepole that are asthmatic would be more susceptable to spores injested into the lungs? I guess if you breathed in something fly agaric would that have the same effect as eating it? More questions i suppose.

Wonder if a doctor could awnser this one?
