I ran a dropside 4x4 Transit 10 years or so ago, lousy on road and not too handy off road TBH. Twin wheel rear following a single front across mud meant you were cutting two sets of ruts. Articulation wasn't to good and the carry capacity was restricted (unless you were a tree surgeon:sneaky2:). Top speed was noisy and about 55, mpg was not too good and the noise from the tyres drumming was worse than the Landrovers. Shafts ate Uj's and they were pressed in so not DIY stuff. The exhaust was a special part so mega dear and ours was fitted with oversize wheels so tyres were not "off the shelf" and it ate fronts.

 

Having said that, I liked it's "can get there" looks and the fact that it was different.:001_tt2:
