Often wondered, how do people like Ben feel when they go back to the dirge and grind of their own jobs, especially when you have involvement in such a close knit community. I would never give up that sense of being just for the promise of extra cash??

lifes too short gota enjoy it?

A good point was made where the programme identified that for these men and their families, logging isn't a job rather it is a way of life; like trawlermen for example. For me, it has always been a way of life, not a job. When threads come up on here about what you do in your spare time and the photographs vary from fishing to kayaking to kite-surfing to toy trains I think to myself "what on earth" and Tommer9 genuinely often responds "what is this spare-time you speak of???!". I haven't a clue either... Maybe it's the forestry thing - it gets into your blood out in the hills unlike arb keeping you more normal!!! :sneaky2:

Hey sorry man, reflecting back on my post I realise I may have affended:blushing: that was not my intention..I was purely curious as to how ben would miss the close community he was interacting with. :thumbup1:... as for forestry keeping you normal, six years of it had no affect on either myself or my family of singing potatoes.

Certainly not! Offended me that is! Relax!

But I meant Arb keeping you more normal! I once knew a guy called Ron whos' life was as follows: 1) 40 mins before first light, get out of sleeping bag (in tin shack in middle of wood) and make breakfast and all the other stuff camping-mode. 2) Start his 254xp and start cutting. 3) Stop cutting at 10 o'clock for a rest with site boss and a smoke and cuppa. 4) Resume cutting 10-15 mins later. 4) Stop cutting at 1pm for lunch with rest of gang for 30 mins max. 5) Resume cutting and either finish at dusk or when he'd cut approx 150 trees (inc stacking the bars and rails to the sawlog in the rack). 6) Go to the Warren House Inn for his dinner. 7) Retire for the evening.

And that was it. A one man harvesting machine.
