Hidden up on the heath at Newmarket, in a stand of Pine & Beech, where the race horses are trained in the mornings.

(just up the hill from where the last shot was taken earlier this year)

 

Most of the shoes have initials engraved within, I'd imgine they're the jockeys maybe from some rite or t'other.

 

Quite like the tradition on this one.

 

Not so nice for the tree boys that might have to process it up in the future when, the tree has occluded all that nice metal work

this one puzzled me for more than a wee while.

 

Needed a bit of local ken to get to the bottom of it.

 

 

 

Burnham Beeches

 

Last shot shows a fallen pollard to the right side in the back ground.

 

This tether was an attempt to guy the old vet between two adjacent anchor trees, after it had gone over in a storm.

 

It didn't last

Whilst sniffing out some fung, I came across this little offering, within this fair sized norway maple.

 

Zoomed in to get a closer look, & suddenly felt like I was intruding on someones connection.

Off today, so took a stroll to a local woods to have a look at some Wild service amongst other things & came across this............

 

 

Firstly I thought, odd place for a wood pecker to ply his trade ???

 

then took a closer gander.

No pictures am afraid but before Christmas picked up I live .5 armour piercing and two weeks ago when looking at some timber 2 inch live mortar and on Sunday a friend in the same area picked up another .5 armour piercing will try and get some pictures of the graves in the Woods

ingleton falls is a very nice round walk bit strenuous tho thing i liked best was that the scroats and hooligans cant be bothered to go out there which leaves it untouched

 

I used to love the pint of milk from Beasley farm at the top. Then walking behind the waterfall on the way down. Good times.
