Help finding a Transit Tipper

cheers for the help im still set on a transit tipper. i have recently had 350 lwb pannel van and it was spot on 163 000 mile still on the orginal exhaust. yes parts are expensive but still like them as for ldv reckon i would feel like a pikey lol

I'd steer clear of them mate. Have worked for 2 companies that run Transits as tipper trucks and they are more trouble than they are worth. One was an 04 and the other a 01 and neither of them have nearly enough power. They are good for a light chipper or half a fill of chip, definitely not both. Any more and the first hill you meet is a new clutch.

 

I would disagree with that, although the 90 PS is a bit sluggish. You won't get nicked for speeding, that's for sure!

 

Downside of a crew cab is a limited legal load capacity weight-wise (sub 1 tonne), but the volume they can handle is excellent.

 

Tipper wise, avoid the scissor type ram, make sure it has a straight telescopic ram.

newcastle upon tyne Mark. im set on a transit tipper. despite what everyone says. just need to get one shorted asap as we are also in progress of getting a chipper. so deffinetly need one

dont underrstand the slagging off of transits they have got good and bad points as haave alll trucks out there. They do there job and ours works hard, just had new clucth fitted on it but apart from that nothing else wrong with it.

 

Oh and its a pile of poo in the wet and snow etc

youd get a decent smiley faced tranny for that money, cheaper parts, easier to fix, newness isnt everything!

Deffo get a smiley face, mine did sterling service and is still hard at it for another tree firm.

Autotrader vans has a blue Transit crewcab tipper 1999 for £1750.

 

Says its 120 miles from my parents (Otterburn).

 

Tow bar, drives like new (apparently!). Trade.

 

Might be worth a day out?
