Use Paslode nails and gas and not the cheap alternatives. I was told by a joiner that it is well worth the extra expense and found it true. Buying nails from ebay saved me loads over the likes of screwfix and in 2000 nails on the last job I changed the gas after about 1300 and had less than 5 misfires.

Hi Boys,

Just remember these guns are in effect firearms ! Dont' use with people the back side of what you are nailing. But I expect you know all this stuff.Couple of tips.Don't mix the gas canisters as they are colour coded for the type and length of nail. And clean regularly-If I remember rightly nail polish remover was a good substitute for the proprietry brand. Finally when they start malfunctioning-especially in cold weather it is a sign of the O rings needing replacement. To save the £50 servicing fee and downtime ( although Paslode are excellent to deal with ) you can change them yourselves at a fraction of the cost. But do not fit ordinary O rings as they are not tough enough and will not last very long.

Ring your local O ring stockist and get the higher quality ones. Hope this helps.

No difference in the gas canisters in the packs of 51 ring and 90 standard nails I bought, you can also buy replacement gas and I don't remember having to specify what nails I would be firing.

Brake cleaner is what you need to clean it although the proper paslode aerosol is only about £6 a can, don't use nail varnish remover as it has moisturiser in as well as the acetone which will gunge up the mechanisms

Proper paslode 'o' rings are about 3 quid from a paslode dealer, it's hardly worth the effort of trying to guess what size copy part you would need. Just add a tenner to every nail gunning job and you have the funds for a clean and new 'o' ring.

I've used a Paslode nailgun for several years, great bit of kit, saves hours in the long run! But I agree that you should always use genuine nails and gas though.

However what I really could do with is a Paslode style gun that will fire large U staples (for wire fencing), but no-one seems to make such a thing. Anyone know of one?

Thanks for bringing me up to date !

gas canisters all used to look the same. But the top by the nozzle used to be coloured to equate to the different explosive force needed to drive the various sizes.I had a smaller Paslode gun as well for firing brads (skirting architrave etc ) so that might be where I remember the differences from. My guys inadvertently grabbed the nearest canister from the stores. Some interesting results !! Cheers
