You are correct tractorboy1, the mulcher needs a wide risk zone when cutting this big vegetation however a lot of care has been designed into the safety aspects of the mower and it is much safer than many types of mulchers. The chain is made from a special hardened malleable steel for long life and resistance to fracture. The chain can cut through 100mm dia. trees.

When cutting grass and lighter bushes the head can be tight to the ground which with the well guarded hood offers good protection. When cutting roadside verges it can work at speeds up to 15km/hr

The Slagkraft chain swipe mulcher mower is well proven, over 1000 machines working in Scandinavia for the last 30 years cutting roadside verges.

All this said I agree when cutting large vegetation which requires the head to work down in two or three passes a wide risk zone for personnel is required. The excavator cab had safety glass windows with front guards. We had our video attached to the machine cab for some of the time and used a zoom lens a lot!

The really clever bit is the chain magazine which stores a long length of chain which can be released as the chain wears. The whole unit is built from high strength alloy steel with a hardened, balanced drum.

The smallest digger size would be a 9 tonne machine Rob. There are three sizes of machine to work with diggers from around 9 tonnes to 25 tonnes.

Be pleased to provide any further info if required :001_smile:

Thanks for your interest Parker. The chain swipe has only just been launched this year in the UK, so all working models are currently in/around south west Scotland. If you are interested in seeing one work and don't mind travelling north, we can certainly organize a demo for you. Please give us a ring for further info if required. :)
