Hi there, I'm trying to start out my arborist career and would like to get into a permanent position as soon as possible. Ideally I'd like to be a climber and progress onto team leading in the future and so on but I am willing to start out as a groundie and work my way up

I have some experience with groundie duties as I work as and when I'm needed for a local tree surgeon using annual leave and doing Saturdays to go work with them. (Dragging brash, operating a chipper, cleaning up the site, ground based saw work, hedge trimming, crown reductions on smaller trees and all the associated maintenance) and have done some small climbing jobs of my own with my own gear and done some recreational climbing

My main job is a forestry worker for an estate doing thinning, timber harvesting, tree planting, firewood, track and ride maintenance, assisting with research regarding Silviculture, spraying and general grounds maintenance tasks.

I've also gained experience with tracked chippers in this job

I also have 6 months experience as a volunteer forest craftsperson with Forestry England

I taught myself how to strip and rebuilt a variety of 2 stroke equipment which is what I use for my own jobs as well as creating my own rigging slings. And learning how to tie knots.

I'm heavily invested my arb career and want to make the most of it as it's a job I enjoy and gain satisfaction from when looking back at the work done

I'm based near Wolverhampton (WV8 Area) and looking a full time job but don't have enough experience or the relevant tickets to apply through job sites. I've applied for an apprentice arborist position with Walsall Council but would be interested in seeing what's available beforehand as there's no guaranteed job at the end.

In the future I'd be willing to relocate and work for a bigger business like beechwood in Coventry but for now I'd like to see what options are closer to me.

I have -

Driving Licence

Level 3 Forestry & Arboriculture Qualification

PA1/PA6

Polesaw Ticket

First Aid +F

I'll soon have cs30/31

I'll be willing to work towards my cs38/39,mewp tickets,Aerial tree rigging and my chipper/stump grinder tickets

And I have a great work ethic

Thanks 👍

Ryan

Good luck, sounds like you’re getting your ducks in a row.

Plus you can spell aerial, so that puts you in the top 10% of tree guys!

What's she got to do with this?
