I'd take the ferry personally, whilst customs are really arsey sending things out I bet they'll be a bit more forgiving the other way providing you have receipts etc.

And a eori wouldn't be a bad idea.

Not sure what that means?

I thought they’d be super critical about what comes in as they want their 20%?

Ive got my Norwegian Residency card. I wonder if that would help at all?

Eori is for importing/exporting things, it's basically a register they can check and confirm identity, plus presumably it's a business purchase ?.

Ferry from Amsterdam to Newcastle Andy as we were discussing earlier, easy to get to Germany from there too, hopefully your seller is happy to give you a nice bill of sale showing the bargain price you got it for 👍🤔

Technically yes, a business purchase. But will be coming out if my own pocket so more of a hobby purchase.

Im considering buying a used Sawmill thats on a trailer package from Europe. As I understand it I'd be liable for 20% vat on the purchase price and have to show its origin of manufacture.

How easy/difficult is it navigating to and on/off of the LeShuttle with a 7m plus trailer?

How likely am I to be "caught" by customs with a used machine and told to cough up?

Any advice?

Can you not get it on one of those inflatable dinghies from a beech?

The French authorities would give you a shove out and the Brits would give you a new phone and a bed for a year or two once you land.  You could even state you would be persecuted in your native Scotland and they would have to feed you for quite a while.  You could use Arbtalk threads as evidence of how you are treated and racially discriminated against.
